Shozo Shimamoto 1928-2013
"I am sorry to announce that a dear friend and a very important artist, Mr. Shozo Shimamoto, of Osaka, Japan, died Friday, three days after his 85th birthday. He was a pioneer as one of the original members of the Gutai art movement in the 50s and then took up mail art, spending subsequent decades as a performer on an international stage and a teacher of younger artists everywhere."
