(1) How long have you been making installations?
4 years.
(2) Why did you choose to make installations and not anything else?
My decision to pursue web-based art is inspired by my vision as an artist interested in combining visual and social/political literacy with technological literacy in my art work. I have not chosen to explore installation only.
(3) What do you think of your own works?
I believe my work is powerful and that it has the potential to inspire the need for an open-minded society which can embrace cultural difference.
(4) What do you think the difference is between your own work and other installations?
In terms of web-based art my recent website “Glass Houses” illustrates a fresh approach to examining family histories and personal stories within a social/political framework.
(5) What do you think of the relationship of traditional artwork and installation?
As an artist interested in new technologies I believe the relationship between traditional artwork and installation is being challenged. Especially now that we have entered the electronic age.
(6) What is the size and material of an installation determined by?
By the artist and her/his vision. Funding plays an important factor as well.
(8) Is there any object or idea that cannot be installed?
Possibly so but almost anything is possible with funding.
(9) How does environment affect the installation of the work?
My installations are generally site-specific.
(10) Do you know any fact that restricts the possibilities of installation?
Usually funding.
(11) Do you like making installation for order or at request?
I have an interest in commissioned work.
(12) What do you think of preserving an installation?
I believe documentation is very important.
(13) Can the value of an installation be estimated and how?
Yes. By the artist.
(14) How does copyright apply to installations preserved only in documents?
Not familiar with copyright law in this sense.
