(the value of the image, the image of the value)
The idea of the present artpiece occured at that point -while thinking of the relationship between artwork and money-, when it turned out: they “lean” on each other measuring their value, namely the value of an artwork is expressed by the sign system of money, and the value of money can be read through visual signs.... Onwards, not re-interpreting but enhancing the relationship of the normal position of the “sign shows the value of a coin and money reflects the value of an artwork”, the present installation is based on that situation when money concretely determines - by the shape, size, etc. of the coin - some of the basic parameters of a picture (money becomes the carrier of the picture), and also when randomly cut pieces from magazines with the same size and shape - which I named picture unit after monetary unit - get into the situation when they express the value of the coins (in a wider sense: money).
Mért kép (installáció - 1 forintos pénzérmék, 1 cm2-es négyzetes alakú, a nyomtatott sajtóból hazárd módon kivágott képek) (a kép értéke, az érték képe)
A jelen mű ötlete, a pénz és kép viszonyáról való gondolkodás azon pontján merült fel, ahol kiderült: értékük megállapításának mozzanatában kölcsönösen egymásra „támaszkodnak”, vagyis a kép értéke a pénz jelölőrendszerében mutatkozik meg, és a pénz értéke képi jelekben olvasható le..... A „kép mutatja a pénz értékét és a pénz tükrözi a kép értékét” féle alapállásból továbblépve, de nem átértelmezve, hanem továbbfokozva ezt a viszonyt, a jelen installáció arra a szituációra épít, ahol a pénz konkrétan meghatározza - a pénzérme alakja, nagysága, stb. által - a kép néhány alapvető paraméterét (úgymond a pénz a kép hordozójává válik), és ahol a nyomtatott sajtóból találomra, de egyforma méretűre és alakúra kivágott képek - melyeket, a pénzegység mintájára képegységeknek neveztem el - kerülnek abba a helyzetbe, hogy a pénzérmék (és szélesebb értelemben: a pénz) értékét kifejezzék.
