Berlin Session
Organizer(s): Rehfeldt, Robert - Friedrich Winnes - Lutz Wohlrab
Location: Rehfeldt-Studio / Palette Nord, Berlin-Pankow, GDR
Date: 20 September, 1986
Number of participants: c. 25 (Identified in group photograph)
The Berlin meeting faced significant state interference. Originally planned for the "Palette Nord" gallery at the Kreiskulturhaus "Erich Weinert," the public exhibition was banned by authorities shortly before the event. In a classic act of Mail Art resilience, the "Insider-Treffen" (insider meeting) was moved to Robert Rehfeldt's private studio. The invitation promised a "Postkunsttag" (Post-Art Day) featuring slide shows, workshops, and "Schmalzstullen" (lard sandwiches). The gathering remains one of the most significant documented physical meetings of the GDR Mail Art scene.
