Let’s Build Utopia!,

Introductory Narrative: "Let’s Build Utopia!" was a collaborative Mail Art project conceptualized and organized by David Della-fiora under the "Field Study" umbrella. Inspired by the collective labor of medieval cathedral builders—who contributed individual expressions like gargoyles within a larger architectural framework—the project sought to create a modern artistic equivalent through the postal network. Della-fiora invited the international Mail Art community to contribute stickers, rubber stamps, and small collages. These materials were then used by "builders" at the HUB Gallery in Geelong to decorate a wooden building block set, physically manifesting a "collective expression" of utopian possibility. The project emphasizes the transition from individual contribution to a unified, three-dimensional architectural installation, echoing the Mail Art philosophy that the network itself is a communal structure.
