The Street You Walk On,
Raz Mail Art, Brisbane, 2005. (Ed. by Raz)

The Street You Walk On was an international mail art project initiated by the Australian artist known as Raz. The project stemmed from the organizer's personal obsession with "frottaged envelopes" and the interpretation of marks recorded from the urban environment—specifically those unnoticed or overlooked on the streets. Following an initial exhibition of the organizer's own work in late 2004, a global call was issued asking participants to interpret "mark making from their own environments."

The project received a significant response, gathering 132 entries from 99 artists across 20 countries. The submissions showcased a diverse range of media typical of the eternal network, including postcards, collage, printmaking, artistamps, photography, and mixed media utilizing soot and plasticine. The resulting works were exhibited at the Brisbane Central Library main gallery space in September 2005. This project highlights the mail art network's capacity to transform mundane, local urban observations into a collective, global visual dialogue.
