A great many of the young people featured in the Dokumentum 69-70 catalogue participated in the IPARTERV I and IPARTERV II exhibitions, held in 1968 and 1969, respectively. The exhibition concept was to present artists representing the most characteristic versions of ongoing trends. These young artists did not directly carry on traditions but rather sought to find ways in the given context of the art world and move in tandem with the most progressive Avant-garde ambitions. They strove to sever ties that bound them to conventional, solved and processed artistic forms, which they saw as impeding creative gestures. They tried to think freely about the various phenomena in the world and looked for new forms of conveying their experiences.
