Hungarian painter and sculptor. He began his studies at the high school of fine arts and then graduated from the Art Academy in 1967.
He emigrated to the United States in 1974 and settled in Cleveland. In America, abstract expressionism and Rauschenberg’s collage technique evolved his own style, an abstraction that worked with different materials, sometimes using figural elements, but mostly using the influence of textures.
In addition to paintings, he gained his American success and fame with unique graphics, screen prints, lithographs and three-dimensional works.
László Dús returned home in 1999 and lives at the artists’ colony on Százados út. He is a regular participant of the Western European and domestic art scene.
Hungarian painter. He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts between 1959 and 1964. In 1964-1965 he went on study trips to Italy and France, respectively. In 1968 and 1969 he participated in the Iparterv Exhibitions.
In 1970, he applied for political asylum in France. In 1971, he was sentenced in his absence to three and a half years in prison for illegal printing. In 1973, he organized a solo exhibition in Paris and published a manifesto on the cessation of the fine arts. Between 1974 and 1987, he made book illustrations and movie posters. From 1987, he began a new period of art. He worked in Sweden from 1990 to 1991.
In 1991, he regained his Hungarian citizenship. From 1992 to 1995, he was a professor in the Department of Painting at Janus Pannonius University in Pécs.
