The large-scale exhibition event is built on the entire grounds of Area 51 (front and back garden, covered courtyard, shed, ivy house, living-room, kitchen, attic and cellars) to propose and explore the concept of "HOLONIC REALISM".
The kick-off theme looks at three cases of social identity:
First: Péter Halász’s newspaper-theatre series of autumn 1994 titled "Power Money Fame Beauty Love". At the holonic demonstration the newspaper-theatre is turned into a theatre-cinema through short feature films, and the original newspaper articles and scripts are turned into an exhibition. – in the shed and the covered courtyard.
Second: Péter Halász’s Kassák Theatre documents from György Galántai’s criminalised Balatonboglár Chapel Studio from 1973 – in the cellar ("Happening in the Crypt").
Third: banned exhibition of 1984 titled "Hungary Can Be Yours / International Hungary" in connection to the report made by a III/III secret police agent, also linked to the Kassák Theatre. This new part of the holonic reality programme continues in the dimensionist memorial room and kitchen, where additional impulses keep coming from the cellar and the attic.
In dialogue with this are three cases of personal identity, the original works of three artists:
Zsolt Gyarmati’s (1968) pictures in the ivy house with a noise and party music background,
János Kalmár’s (1952) sculptures, starting from the first garden, accompanied by changing music, and
The "sound sets" associated with the newspaper-theatre connect the small spaces in the entire Area 51 (13 venues) site-specifically and contextually and guide visitors from one venue to the next, lifting them out of the cavalcade of the festival.
Finally, visitors can print their T-shirts with an “Area 51” stencil in the satellite/gazebo while listening to Johann Sebastian Bach’s pieces for solo violin.
This extension is done not only in space and time but also thematically with the critical present (video pieces) and the Taoist past (portal sound).
Curator: György Galántai, sponsored by the Artpool Foundation.
