THIRTY YEARS OF ARTPOOL’S HISTORY (and its antecedents)
Spring projection, exhibition event, selection from the visual and audio footage of Artpool’s Hungarian and international projects, video installation of documents and works.
motto 1: Those who look at the budding of art without love and appreciation will see worms in the fruit it bears. (József Egry)
motto 2: Who can see that the promised roads are already there on our tongues hanging out? (Attila József)
The concepts that underpin our exhibition event in accordance with Artpool’s reflexive and self-reflexive practice are: integral approach, glocal identity, everyday art event, cooperation and autonomy, self-transcendence, holarchisation.
(Holarchisation is the process of developing ever-increasing wholes and integrating them with previous wholes.)
Artpool was founded thirty years ago on 25 March 1979
In the last thirty years, between 1979 and 2009 – first in a dictatorship and then in a democracy, first illegally and then legally, first banned and tolerated and then supported – Artpool has organised, archived, processed and preserved numerous alternative, underground and subcultural art events, making them accessible in its library, archives and online.
