Dear Júlia,
I’ve been thinking about you, even though I didn’t write. I’m not a great Facebook user and I only sporadically follow things that are going on in social media. That is how it must have missed my attention that you organised a splendid celebration for Gyuri’s 80th (I can’t believe it) birthday.
Gyuri, who can easily deny twenty years from his age, is now an iconic figure, a living legend, with you too, who was dropped here from the future. Eighty is a nice round number, and it instantly set my mind racing: so many visual works could be built around it, spiced up with some numerology and other delicacies inherent in it. But perhaps all this is not necessary because this eighty contains the whole path Gyuri has travelled, lined with countless fantastic exhibitions, performances, sculptures, events, Artpool, devotion, enthusiasm, talent, persistent work and his energy that swept away all obstacles and difficulties along the way until he arrived at this magical eightieth milestone.
Since I only have your contact details, let me send my birthday wishes to him through you, please pass on this message to him. Unfortunately, I only heard about the exhibition that was in the making too late, or I realised it too late, so in addition to these few lines, I’m only sending an invisible work now: a work taking shape somewhere that will materialise sometime later. And having said this, I want to express that the road travelled by Gyuri will continue past the memories of the future.
