PERFORMANCE ART
The first three lectures of a series organized by Artpool on performance art. László BEKE is talking about the antecedents, the beginning and the general characteristics of this field of art. According to Artpool’s plans, the whole series investigates the body art works, happenings and Fluxus-events in Hungary and abroad, the relationship between performance and other fields of art (including installation, painting, sculpture, theatre, music, poetry, video, dance etc.) and the meaning of performance in broader cultural context (sport, traffic and dressing). Artpool Art Research Center has started to process the documents of hungarian performance art (1965–1995) in 1994. Some documents are already prepared for research in the form of videodocumentations and portfolios in Artpool´s archive, where the videodocumentation of the lecture-series will be also accessible.
