Birthday messages and memories on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Júlia Klaniczay, co-founder of Artpool

I have admired Juli Klaniczay’s work for decades. She, together with Gyuri Galántai, has always done by far the most to set up, maintain and operate Artpool as an archive, which is something she learned to do as she went along and for which she mobilised their ever-expanding international network.
Juli did all this huge amount of work, including the events in Kapolcs, quietly, almost invisibly, always smiling and constantly inviting everyone to study the massive quantity of archival material.
Her work and what she has achieved are unique, and it’s safe to say that they have been one of a kind on a global scale.
If the documentation of the activities of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde (including the performance art works in which she participated) is preserved, it’ll be to the credit of the two of them.

Dear Juli, I wish you much, much happiness and many more years of work, with a lot of love and appreciation.
