Julia and György visited me in Forte dei Marmi one summer many years ago. I was also working at Hotel Acapulco with my family at the time. Mail artist Ed F. Higgins from New York was a guest at my home on the same day the Galantais arrived, and also mail art maverick Guglielmo Achille Cavellini and noise artist Maurizio Bianchi were in town on the same day.
The 80es and 90es have been truly a peak in mail art Tourism!
I will turn 70 myself next year, so I know how it feels to reach this age and still feel restless, with a lot of projects and good work to do.
I highly admire the concepts and organizational work behind the Artpool Archive through the decades and I know how important for that was Julia's untiring dedication and skills.
The mail art network is like an enlarged family, so I wish the best to Julia for the commemorative show and I will mail a small gift (I prefer traditional post to e-mail) hoping it gets there in time.
I end this message with an old Italian saying: "behind every great man there is a great woman", happy birthday Julia!
