„Editing Beckett was an exploration and involvement by workshop participants in a wide variety of processes and ideas that are central to the book arts. Inspired by the exhibition at Walker Art Center of Foirades/Fizzles, a collaborative book by Samuel Beckett and Jasper Johns, a portion of the Beckett text was selected as the base from which all the pages were keyed. Allan Kornblum of Coffee House Press set the text passage at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the workshop participants then experimented with different ways of altering and printing the text – not inking all characters, double printing and adding ding bats to the page. Pages were further altered in the Art Lab at the Walker by using rubber stamps, collage, drawing and cut out. As this point, participants selected international mail artists to send their pages for further additions and changes. The pages that were returned were exhibited at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and have become a permanent part of the artist's book collection of the Walker Art Center Library.” Scott Helmes

„...it was possibly the first piece of mail art documentation that really grabbed my attention. Although there may have been others before him and there certainly have been others to follow, I think that it was the first to demonstrate to me, the degree that some in the network were exerting to share the body of communication sent to a mail art show”.
