1981. Mini Galéria, Újpest, Budapest - 21 July - 20 August 1981. - Artpool's first Hungarian Mail Art exhibition with postal works by 86 artists and invitation cards of 36 cultural institutions. Some sent objects and bookworks were also shown as well as two international mail art projects. Pieces from Artpool's audio archive were to be listen to during the show. (APS no.7)

RECONSTRUCTION OF A BANNED EXHIBITION
1989. Young Artists' Club, 9-21 December, 1989. - Exact reconstruction of the exhibition "Hungary Can Be Yours", banned in 1984. At the opening: round-table discussion of the former censors and censored. A video documents the event, and the catalog of the exhibition (edited in 1984) has also been published.

1994. Írók Boltja, Budapest - 11 May 1994 - György KONRÁD (writer) presented the bookwork of Péter Forgács, György Galántai and György Petri. The Visual Arts Research Studio of the Arizona State University concieved a collaborative project for a bookwork in 1989. The topic was "Freedom/Oppression: Central European Artists in Response". Artpool was requested to take part and help to select the participating Hungarian artists of the opposition.

Altogether 267 texts of the 51 participants were published in a catalogue. The participants themselves could vote for the 28 texts that were exhibited on street-boards.

Miklós Erdély {SIDEWALK}
Liszt Ferenc square - 16 October - 1 November, 1998 - The boards installed on the 28 lampposts are quotations from a strange untitled writing of Miklós Erdély (1928-1986). This special edition of the text and the linguistic analysis of its inherent textual references can bring us closer to understanding Miklós Erdély´s artistic work.
Endre Tót´s First Sidewalk table
in front of Artpool P60 - 19 October, 1998 - The bronze casted table installed in the pavement is the first lasting piece in public domain of Endre Tót´s "I´m glad to..." series. - If we consider Endre Tót´s table a ("postneoavantgarde") kind of symbol of canonization, we can experience the present as future built on the past. ("I am glad to have stood here" / to have kept standing / to have remained standing / to have stood for / to have stood over / to have stood down / etc.)

International Hungary in 1984
2000. Artpool P60 - 14-28 April, 2000 - Reconstruction of the exhibition opened 16 years ago,on 27 January 1984, Young Artists' Club, Budapest, with works by 46 Hungarian and 58 foreign artists from 18 countries, and banned on the spot by the authorities, for so called "professional" reasons. The reconstruction follows the secret police reports made about the exhibition with detailed description of the "dangerous" artworks found recently at the History Archives.
Circa 30 years ago Chapel Exhibitions at Balatonboglár
Artpool P60 - 5-16 June, 2000 - exhibition and video documents - The Chapel Studio was organized and ran by György Galántai between 1970 and 1973 at Balatonboglár. Altogether 35 exhibitions, concerts, poetry recitals, theatrical performances, and film showings were held in those 4 years, featuring the best of Hungary´s (undesirable) avant-garde artists, and guest artists from abroad. Some highlights: 1972: the first exhibition of conceptual art in Hungary; Avant-Garde Festival (which had been banned in Budapest); István Haraszty´s kinetic statues (banned in Budapest); 1972-73: performances by the banned Kassák Theater; 1973: the first exhibition of visual poetry in Hungary; etc.

Liszt Ferenc square - 18 October - 3 November 2002 - the texts of 28 poets, philosophers and orators exhibited in advertisement-like typography. The validity of their words span over 2,500 years and deal with the subjects of art, science and politics.
ANNIVERSARIES OF THE THIRD KIND
2003. Artpool P60 - 14-31 March 2003 - The exhibition consists of the documents piled up by chance or collected purposely at Artpool archives recalling art events which took place between 14-31 March in the past 30 years. - As Robert Filliou puts it, "in the eternal network", in "the space of permanent creation" the memories of third kind make each day an anniversary that is how life becomes "La Fête Permanente / a permanent celebration".

Artpool P60 - 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 November 2003 - Zoltán Sebők`s infectious lectures on cultural infection - It is concerned with the information patterns named memes which biologist Richard Dawkins had originally defined as the cultural equivalents to genes and viruses. Putting forward his ideas in his book The Selfish Gene, Dawkins himself has created an effective meme, infecting the thoughts of his fellow-researchers.

Thanks to Artpool and György Galántai it is possible to play at Flux Ping Pong [video], and visitors are also invited to explore the Poipoidrome by Robert Filliou (originally presented in 1976 at the Young Artists Club of Budapest and reconstructed by artpool in 1998). - The Budapest exhibition will be completed with Flux Flags from 1992, documents of Ben Vautier's podium and captions at Liszt Ferenc square in 1993 (BENvauTiER), as well as a selection from Artpool's Fluxus videos and the website Fluxus@Artpool.
1st Little Hungarian Metro Biennial
Artpool P60 - 10 - 22 October 2008 - An exhibition of works by students of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts - The exhibition concept: a looped sound recording of texts is audible in the exhibition space. Since all the exhibited works relate to this soundscape, it provides an unusual clue for the visitor to approach works of visual art.

Galántai House, directly
K55, Kapolcs - 22 - 26 July 2009 - Artpool/Kapolcs memori/al - The "Newkapolcs Gallery" project (1991-1995), holonically (as a whole and a part) organised in György Galántai's house was an important part in the 30-year-long history of Artpool. The prolonged renovation of the house was finished in 2009, and, to celebrate this, the house appears in the exhibition with an integral approach as a holonic memori/al in the exhibition space opening from the street.
