1999 – The YEAR OF CONTEXT – FOOT WARE international exhibition. The context of personal (foot) and non-personal (foot ware); reading individual, tribal, national, international, biological, philosophical, technological, social, political and artistic meanings – within the framework of an exhibition – provides the opportunity of different ways of reading.

2000 – THE YEAR OF CHANCE – the last year of the 20th century, interpreted as the zero-year of the 21st century, is suitable to be the YEAR of Artpool Art Research Center’s CHANCE project, for it “zeros” what has happened so far, and thus attempts to generate, out of the chances, a “self-assembling” refurbishment and approaches the IMPOSSIBLE (2001).
Internet.galaxis.2000 - Platform for presenting new programmes and initiatives that fundamentally determine the development of Hungary’s information society. The theme of the digital graphic art and interactive internet art exhibition is the threshold, the numerous possible interpretations of which the organisers focused on three: stimulation threshold, millennial threshold, threshold value.

CHANCE CLUB
blind chance meeting for fans of chance
the current theme of the meeting is the coexistence of the possible and the impossible... is it possible that this event, as an evolutionary chance event,
will become the starting point... for the IMPOSSIBLE YEAR (2001) (?)
“Nothing existed accidentally.
There was no reason for anything to exist.
But there was no reason either for anything not to exist.
Since there was nothing to prevent anything from coming into being, something eventually came into being.”
(Miklós Erdély)
impossible + chance = possible + chance = impossible
2001 – THE YEAR OF THE IMPOSSIBLE – Walk through the impossible.
Viewing the world through the laws of quantum mechanics, it is not impossible that an object suddenly, without any reason, should appear in one point of space.
THE UNIFIED WAY OF READING
(reactive and trans-contextualised information)
“The simplest thing we must communicate here is not the image of truth but truth itself.” (Ludwig Wittgenstein)
– – the transition from the old ways of reading to the new involves a leap from historical, evaluative, political consciousness that is cybernetic and playful, that confers meaning. This will be the consciousness that reads in the future.
It is characteristic of computing to assume that the world and we are meaningless (absurd), that either can be picked in to kernels, and that the kernels can then be assembled into something that does have meaning. (Vilém Flusser)
2002
THE YEAR OF DOUBTS/DOUBLES
2002 – (S)he who has no doubts will never have the chance to get close to the truth. – A photographer has doubt but not in a scientific, religious or existential sense but in the sense of a new kind of doubt, in which harking back and decision-making are ground into seeds, into the seeds of quantum-like, atomised doubt. – Philosophers ought to always consider the double structure of the world: the dualism/doubleness/duplicity/twofoldness of the world imagined through naivety and the actual world. A certain order (the order of symmetry violations) prevails over the evolution of material. – These material characteristics and this order are reflected in the laws of nature, in the laws of symmetry and symmetry violation. – Some think that everything that has not been fully researched or explained yet is a paraphenomenon. – The universe could have a consciousness per se and consciousness could have its universe.

FROM EUROPE TO EUROPE
MEMORIES OF THE FUTURE
Documentary exhibition of the 10-year-old Artpool Art Research Center
On 20 March 1992 at 6 p.m. Miklós Marschall deputy lord mayor unveiled the centre and
on 20 March 2002 at 6 p.m. Miklós Marschall,
Director of Transparency International for Central Europe [Berlin]
opened the jubilee exhibition.
Artpool initially (1979) was Hungarian – European in the world, and later (1992), as a European, was a Hungarian – in the world.
The memories of the future are in the present at any given time because what does not yet exist but will exist already exists.
What is not the past of the future belongs to decay.

The exhibition event was linked to celebrations marking the 40 years (1962–2002) of the international Fluxus are organised around the 5+1 themes: doubleness/duplicity/dualism/twofoldness – doubt /dubiety/skepticism – symmetries – dissymmetry/violating symmetry – paradox / paranormal phenomena and other parallel realities. The project, in the real – as well as in the virtual (internet) – exhibition space, is to assemble a holistic worldview from the concepts that exist independently and yet inform each other.

DOUBT CLUB
PRESENTATION OF THE ONLINE PROCESSING OF THE YEAR OF DOUBT/DOUBLES
(lecture and dialogue about the intercultural opportunities inherent in the worldwide web)
The „5+1=2” formula for parallel realities proved to be useful because starting from chance, spanning the impossible and representing them as doubt, as two, derives the hypothesis of threefoldness. Viewed from the perspective of “doubleness” it is certain that a number ‘stands’ behind the image(s) and in an abstract way it also denotes concept(s). The number as an idea allows the image, the text and the reader to be in a telematic relationship. “The »reader« is the one who, using the stored elements of information, produces what he or she needs.” […] “Every phenomenon is surrounded by numerous points of view. In order to be fair to a phenomenon, we should jump from one point of view to the next.” (Vilém Flusser) If things that were distant come close to each other in space and time to automatically direct their path towards three, then […] “But more about this later,” said Miklós Erdély, when making a connection between remote events […]

THREES AND TRINITIES
2003 – From chance (0) and impossibility (1) derives doubt (2) and from this derives threefoldness. Viewing it from another perspective, from any two hypotheses comes a third kind, which surpasses the former ones.
The motto of the year: “All statements that lack contradiction are false since reality is contradictory”. (Vilém Flusser)
K3 = (state space) Kavics Street 3
water concert = (state space representation) an event of the auratic mode of existence (State space is the sum of all possible states arising in connection with the problem. State space representation is the mode in which the elements of the state space are recorded and presented.)
M E M E U M
The concept of memes is frightening because after being understood it destroys all the intellectual constructs we could rely on, to which we could escape.
Not everybody will join us. This path is for the brave, those who value truth more than comfort or consoling but false statements:
“We wish to find the truth, no matter where it lies. But to find the truth we need imagination and skepticism both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact.” (Carl Sagan)
